GET THE MOST FROM YOUR HOSPITALITY PARTNER
Nov 03, 2019Massa is a boutique architecture firm, with locations in both the Middle East and the North America regions, whose sole focus is to create architectural spaces that invoke a feeling of rejuvenation, healing and an increased level of happiness.
“We know from research that a well-designed environment can help boost the wellbeing of visitors, as well as increase staff productivity.” said Karim Khemakhem, founder of Massa, “Massa understands the elements that play into making a positive impact on people’s overall health such as lighting, views of nature, noise and acoustics, layout, and amenities such as spas, gyms and green spaces.”
For Massa, quality matters more than quantity. Regardless of project size, the Massa team provides the best service, tailored to the specific needs of the hospitality client – always in a sustainable way.
“We’ve handpicked an award-winning hospitality team, each member bringing unique and valuable qualities to the table,” said Khemakhem, “when you combine these talents from across continents and cultures, it opens up all kinds of possibilities as to what clients can get out of a project with Massa for their architectural endeavors.”
Take for example the Alluvian Hotel in Greenwood Mississippi. Traditional in exterior, the hotel needed to offer its guests everything in modern luxury. Inspired by its local history, the new interior offered spacious walls, allowing for a gallery space where local artists could display their work. Members of the Massa team implemented the changes using modern, sustainable materials – all at a reasonable cost. The hotel was transformed into an oasis of luxury and comfort, where patrons could truly be at ease and enjoy an upscale environment.
“For us, it’s all about forging the connection between people and their environment, and improving overall health and happiness as a result of that relationship” said Marek Šebestyén, partner and design principal at Massa, “This kind of engagement and positive interaction is what we want people to gain from the hospitality environments we create.”
A project that involved complicated space planning – one of Massa’s specialty areas – was the redesign of the Renaissance Providence in Providence, Rhode Island. Part of the building was previously constructed to be a Masonic temple. The design team was able to seamlessly transform it into an intimate-feeling restaurant – sophisticated in design yet still paying respect to its previous elements, like the stone walls and unique tile floors.
Members of the Massa team, like John Carhart, principal for Massa in the U.S.A. possess years of experience in the U.S. architecture and design industry – giving clients the best in American creativity, know-how and a local presence. This helps to create better relationships, producing satisfied clients for the present and long-term.
“We understand the mindset of the demanding, world traveler, so we aim to be flexible and contemporary, while including an element of timelessness into the buildings we design” said Carhart, “As technology and people adapt, it’s important that our architectural design evolves with those changes too.”
When the Hermitage Hotel of Nashville needed an update, one of the oldest hotels in America, famed for its classic style that evokes feelings of old-time Hollywood glamour. The hotel’s design was updated to provide modern amenities hotel guests expect, while keeping with the historic classic elements that people love it for today.
